The first thing that hit me was the cool, resin-like scent in the Sweetgum forest as the jeeps left Dalyan behind. The whole day had an easy, unhurried rhythm, which suited my friend and me. There were enough off-road bits to feel adventurous, but plenty of gentle driving where you could just watch the countryside drift past. The stop at the icy Yuvarlakcay springs definitely woke us up, and the quieter swim in the lake later on felt like a nice wind-down. We did have a short wait while the jeeps regrouped at one village, but it never felt chaotic or rushed, just a relaxed summer day with a bit of dust, cold water, and good scenery.

Felt more like a full day out in the countryside than a standard excursion, which suited our family nicely. The pace was unhurried, with plenty of time at the lake for the kids to paddle and for us to sit in the shade and actually cool down. Driving through the sweetgum forest was a pleasant surprise – the smell was subtle but lovely, and the guide gave just enough information without talking nonstop. The only downside was a slightly long wait while the jeeps regrouped before heading to Yuvarlakcay, but overall the day flowed well and never felt rushed or chaotic.

Solid. Pickup from our hotel in Dalyan was right on time and the open-top jeep felt safe and well maintained, even on the bumpier tracks through the countryside. The day was paced sensibly for spring weather, with a good balance between driving and stops. The drive around Köyceğiz Lake was particularly scenic, and the visit to the sweetgum forest added a nice change of atmosphere. Swimming at the cold springs near Yuvarlakçay was optional, which suited our mixed group. The only downside was a bit of waiting while different jeeps regrouped, but overall the logistics were handled efficiently for a larger group outing.

For anyone wondering if it’s worth leaving the sunbed: absolutely. Days later I still picture the jeep winding through the sweet-smelling forest and that glassy view across Köyceğiz Lake. The open-top ride was dusty and a bit noisy, but feeling the breeze after a dip in the icy Yuvarlakçay made it part of the charm for our little group of friends.

The moment that will stick with me is watching the low winter sun shimmer across Köyceğiz Lake as our jeep stopped by the shore, the water almost mirror-still. I went with my parents and they loved the slow drive through the sweetgum forest, with that subtle, resinous smell drifting in. The open-top jeeps were a bit chilly in the wind, so extra layers were definitely needed, but the views of the hills and tiny villages more than made up for it. Yuvarlakçay’s icy water was far too cold for us to fully swim, yet just standing with our feet in the river and hearing it rush past was brilliant. Our guide mixed local stories with plenty of photo stops, so the day never felt rushed despite a short wait at one of the viewpoints.

The moment that keeps replaying in my mind is standing by the Yuvarlakçay river, watching steam rise from my breath while locals laughed at us edging into the icy water. Even in February, the scenery was lush, and the cold mountain air felt incredibly clean. The drive through the sweetgum forest was a real highlight too – our guide pulled over so we could rub the bark and smell the resin, which was oddly soothing. As a solo traveller I never felt out of place; people shuffled around in the open-top jeep so everyone had a good view of Köyceğiz Lake on the scenic loop. There was a short wait at one of the swim stops while another group cleared, but it just meant more time for photos and a hot drink from the nearby café. Wrapped up in a jumper between swims, I loved the mix of fresh air, light banter from the guide, and quiet pockets of countryside that felt far removed from the beach-resort routine.

Went in expecting a fairly standard day out and it turned out much livelier than that. The open-top jeeps kept things fun without feeling rushed, with enough time to actually enjoy the views around Köyceğiz Lake rather than just drive past. The stop by the Yuvarlakçay River was a highlight; the icy water certainly woke us up, and the picnic break there felt nicely unhurried. Our small group of friends appreciated the guide’s dry humour and clear explanations about the sweetgum forests we passed through. Only minor gripe was a short wait while the jeeps regrouped on a dusty track, but it didn’t really spoil the rhythm of the day.

Future travellers should know this day is really about the light and the views. The late afternoon drive around Köyceğiz Lake gave us soft, golden reflections on the water that were perfect for photos, especially when the jeeps paused at a viewpoint. The stop at Yuvarlakçay earlier was brisk but fun in the spring chill. Our group was fairly large so there was a bit of waiting at each swim spot, yet the guides kept things organised and good‑humoured. Dusty at times in the open-top jeeps, but worth it for the scenery and the photo opportunities.
