What to Expect from the Classic Dalyan Daily Tour

Your Daily Itinerary at a Glance
1. Departure & Delta Navigation (10:30 AM)
Your day begins at around 10:30 AM. Upon request, we provide a smooth shuttle pickup from your accommodation directly to the boat pier. Once aboard, your professional guide will share an overview of the day’s journey as our riverboat sets sail toward the world-famous İztuzu Beach.
2. The Lycian Rock Tombs of Kaunos & Wildlife
As we glide through the lush, labyrinth-like reed delta, our first major spectacle appears high above the water: the majestic Lycian Rock Tombs. Carved directly into near-vertical cliff faces with astonishing precision over 2,400 years ago, these monumental tombs once demonstrated the wealth and status of ancient Kaunos.
- Photo Stop: We will pause for photos as your guide reveals the mystery and history behind these cliffside tombs.
- Local Delicacies & Wildlife: Keep your cameras ready! This area is a natural habitat for the native Caretta Caretta (Loggerhead) Sea Turtles. You will also have the chance to sample locally prepared Blue Crab, a beloved regional delicacy.
3. İztuzu (Turtle) Beach Swimming Break
Next, we dock at İztuzu Beach—a protected 4.5 km natural sandbar separating the fresh river water from the Mediterranean Sea. Here, you will enjoy a generous 2-hour swimming break to bask under the Aegean sun, relax on fine golden sands, and swim in warm, crystalline waters.
4. Riverside Lunch Amidst Nature
Following your beach break, our boat winds back through the river reeds to our peaceful waterfront restaurant. Keep an eye out along the banks for local birdlife and river turtles as you settle in. Lunch is freshly served at your table by our staff, featuring:
- 4 traditional Turkish cold starters (meze)
- Fresh salad, rice, and pasta
- Your choice of Grilled Fish, Chicken, or a Vegetarian Main Dish
5. World-Famous Thermal Mud Baths
After resting and dining, it’s time to rejuvenate your skin and body at the natural Dalyan Mud Baths. Renowned for their mineral-rich properties—and famous for attracting Hollywood icons like Dustin Hoffman and music legend Sting in the 1990s—getting covered in mineral mud is both therapeutic and unforgettable fun! (Don't forget to get a classic mud-covered photo).
6. Refreshing Swim in Lake Köyceğiz
Clean off the mud and head toward the cool, calm waters of Lake Köyceğiz. Swimming in the lake’s fresh thermal-fed waters is the ultimate way to cool down and refresh your skin after a day in the sun.
7. Optional Sunset Visit: Ancient City of Kaunos
We return toward the harbor late in the afternoon. For history enthusiasts, we offer an optional guided walking visit to the archaeological ruins of the Ancient City of Kaunos.
A Quick Note on Kaunos:
We intentionally schedule the optional visit to Kaunos at the very end of the day. Exploring ancient ruins mid-day can be hot and challenging, so late afternoon offers much cooler temperatures, comfortable walking conditions, and gorgeous golden-hour lighting for photography. If you prefer to head back early, you can conclude your tour at the harbor or visit Kaunos independently the following day!
