Wow. Went with my wife and two kids, and the views pretty much made the long winter day worth it. The drive from Antalya was a bit of a slog, but watching the landscape change from green hills to those pale, almost lunar fields kept the kids staring out of the window for once. When we reached Pamukkale, the white terraces against the grey winter sky looked almost glowing, and walking barefoot on the warm, shallow pools felt surreal. Hierapolis was quieter than I expected, with soft evening light over the Roman theatre and the valley below. Our guide mixed history with little stories, which kept the children engaged. Only minor gripe: the buffet lunch was quite basic and the restaurant felt crowded, but we weren’t really there for the food. Overall, a long but very scenic day that we’re still talking about on the flight home.
